I am not contesting that Fortnite has reigned supreme in the Battle Royale genre. Fortnite did topple PUBG from its throne, and every game has been scrambling to catch up by adding some sort of Battle Royale gameplay mode. The biggest contender to Fortnite currently would have to be Apex Legends which came out of nowhere to hit 50 million players in its first month and may it have a long reign at the Apex of the genre. I believe that Apex Legends is better than Fornite, and I’m going to give you my five reasons why.

1. No Building System

Granted the ability to build walls and structures is the unique mechanic that sets Fortnite apart from all other MOBA or Battle Royale games. Unfortunately, this mechanic is unbalanced as bad builders are at a straight disadvantage. Not to mention that having a supply shortage in a firefight was almost guaranteed to get you killed and also an incredibly frustrating experience.

Apex Legends does not have these problems because it does not have this system. Apex Legends like DOTA and DOTA II rely on having characters that have unique skills and abilities that synergize well with others. Simply put: — Unique characters are better than a unique building mechanic.

2. Characters are Unique

Fortnite characters are literally carbon copies of one another. The differences are purely visual in the form of skins and what kind of pickaxe you wave. This lack of unique visuals can make matches feel repetitive, even if they are not. Apex Legends has unique legends who have their own unique abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. This uniqueness forces players to be more strategic and forces a level of teamwork and tactical cooperation. Fortnite comes down to who has the bigger, badder gun. Apex Legends means Lifeline has to work with teammates instead of committing suicide by attempting to solo Gibraltar. Teamwork makes the dream work, making Apex the superior gaming experience.

3. Getting back into the Fight.
